To assist the designated members of the 2024 SPRINT R&E Team (SPRINT-ERs) in preparing their proposals for the conduct of sugar palm-related research and to encourage the exchange of ideas and insights among team members, the Sugar Palm Research, Information, and Trade (SPRINT) Center conducted a “Training Workshop on Research Proposal Preparation for SPRINT R&E Team Members” on June 4, 2024 at the Technology Demonstration Farm (TDF) Training Hall, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite.
Three topics were discussed during the said activity. In the morning, Engr. Sheryl Dinglasan-Fenol, a faculty researcher of the Research Center, presented and discussed the procedures for the preparation and submission of research proposals. Meanwhile, Ms. Karen Louela Rint-Herrera, the chairperson of the Ethics Review Board (ERB), presented and discussed the preparation of research proposals for ERB review and certification. In the afternoon, Ms. Evelyn F. Grueso, a faculty from the College of Education and a representative of GAD Resource Center discussed the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) Tool in Research. Workshops were conducted after the presentation and discussion of topics.
Present during the training workshop were designated members of the SPRINT R&E Team for 2024: Dr. Lilibeth P. Novicio, Ms. Marie Abigail I. Cortado, Ms. Heidi P. Paler, Ms. Remilyn V. Concepcion. Ms. Jan Edrea D. Cortes. Mr. Fredelino E. Vecina from the College of Agriculture, Food, Environment and Natural Resources; Dr. Jonathan R. Digma from the College of Arts and Sciences; Mr. Alberto M. Aguilar from the College of Economics, Management and Development Studies; Dr. Marlon R. Pereña, Engr. Geri Taguian, Engr. Jose Carlo R. Dizon from the College of Engineering and Information Technology; Dr. Annie D. Ramos and Ms. Karen Krista E. Cajilis from the College of Nursing; and Mr. Jhon Laurence B. Herrera and Mr. Alfie Carl A. Battung from the SPRINT Center.
Participants expressed their appreciation to the center for conducting the said activity, especially those unfamiliar with the process and procedures for packaging and submitting research proposals.
Proposals and required attachments produced during the training workshop are expected to be submitted to the Research Center for evaluation. Subsequently, a research proposal presentation will be scheduled as a continuation of the conducted activity.
